DMR: And, to close, what are the questions that Telco 1.0 should be asking?
P. VERVEST: The first question must be "do we understand that the networked world is changing dramatically and that we may not yet foresee the telco future". We have found that, in combining business science and business experience, business should now be paying close attention to the science – social network analysis, graph theory, complex systems analysis, modularity, swarm intelligence and economic theory. The science provides an understanding of emerging network behavior and opportunities now being explored and applied in business. The second question must be "are we exploring the being networked world with our customers". They are likely to act before the telco has understood. Businesses are now beginning to act on the potential of this new networked world and telcos must position themeselves to act with them. Telcos must now begin to capture the opportunities of being networked before the threats overcome them.
